The Best No Log VPN Protection

Everyone deserves privacy. IPVanish does not keep logs of any traffic that passes through our servers. We do not record where or how you connect to the internet, or which websites you visit. Our no-log practices have been audited and verified by third-party cybersecurity experts.

IPVanish does not log:

Traffic destination or content
IP addresses
Connection time stamps
DNS inquiries

Our server endpoints and VPN apps are all configured not to save any traffic information that passes through them, and to self-destruct connection diagnostic data after every session. Because of this, IPVanish is protected from being forced to disclose data that does not exist.

Verified No Logs

What does our no log VPN policy mean for you?

IPVanish does not keep traffic logs from our users. Here’s what that means:

  • We will never log the content of your internet traffic or locations of your online destinations
  • We do not log your search histories or the websites you log into
  • We do not track the apps you have running, actively or in the background
  • We do not monitor the content or destinations of your upload and download activity
  • We will never track the content or source of the online streams you’re watching

IPVanish does not see, store, or share your online activity. We use our own private DNS on every VPN server for enhanced protection and leak prevention.

Verified by third-party cybersecurity experts

Audit professionals from the cybersecurity consulting firm, Leviathan Security Group, examined our technology and privacy practices. Their independent audit confirmed that our VPN service was in compliance with our existing no-logs policy. The audit verified that IPVanish operates exactly as we’ve described, guaranteeing that we do not retain data about the content or destination of customer sessions.

IPVanish data usage

We don’t collect data that could identify your traffic while using our VPN, but we do still use data in order to be a functional (and ever-improving) service for our customers. None of this information enables IPVanish to match an individual to specific online activity or behavior.

Aggregated app data

To improve the quality of our apps and services, we aggregate anonymous performance data. That means the data collected is not associated with any individual account, session, or instance but accumulated from all users to identify common attributes.

  • Language preference and country
  • Device model, OS version, and app build version
  • Crash reports and session lengths
  • Server and protocol usage
  • API requests and response codes

We respect the privacy of our customers and only use this aggregated anonymous data to diagnose crashes, identify bugs, optimize server performance, prioritize issues, and provide you with the best app experience.

Connection diagnostics

Disabled by default, connection logs can be saved by users to the device as diagnostic files, and can only be enabled by customers solely for the purpose of assisting with troubleshooting. We do not have access to these files unless they are explicitly provided by you, the user, to our Support team through a diagnostic file export and email submission.

If for any reason you need to submit a diagnostic file to our Support team, you may modify the file and remove any personal data prior to sending, and/or request for the file to be redacted from a Support interaction.

Essential usage information

This information is necessary in order to prevent abuse of our unmetered connections policy and account hacking.

  • Username and starting IP address
  • Session start time, duration, and traffic volume
Billing Information

This is required for user account management and subscription payment processing.

  • Customer email address
  • Payment information (which, depending on the origin, may include name, billing address, credit card information, IP address, and affiliate tracking data)

Proud advocate for internet freedom

While IPVanish is committed to providing a more reliable VPN service, we’re also committed to providing protection and access to those who need it most.

Privacy is a basic human right, even online. IPVanish has proudly supported organizations championing digital privacy rights, encryption access, and internet freedom, including:

U.S.-based VPN protection

While some providers are based in offshore regions, such as Panama, Russia, and the Virgin Islands, this only serves to shield their business owners from liabilities and reduce taxes. You wouldn’t trust your finances or your health with a faceless offshore company, so why trust your most confidential data?

IPVanish VPN is proudly based in the USA.

United States law requires businesses to disclose how they operate, their data handling policies, and what you can expect of them. Additionally, the U.S. does not have mandatory data retention laws. So while IPVanish is protected from any compulsory data sharing, consumers are protected from false and unethical business practices.
